Bayan Abu Nahla, konstnär från Gaza, gör bilder som är en slags dagboksanteckningar över hennes och hennes närmastes situation i Gaza. Bilderna utstrålar en trötthet och smärta, som känns fysiskt drabbande.
Så här berättar hon själv om sitt arbete:
”In my drawing, you will find the results of the siege summarized in the feeling of fear of the future. Most of my works are now under the rubble in Gaza. Since I was very preoccupied with the war I did not continue to follow and focus on them. Some of my work is in Bethlehem and I’m still drawing new artwork.
My art is dark, gloomy and pointed. It is art as catharsis: the expression of the despair carried within us due to this harsh life. My art takes after my life or how I feel about my life. Gazas is the whole poem.
Most of the people in my paintings are self portraits & faces of my friends and the people around me. I prefer to use watercolors and ink on paper.”
Hon har ställt ut i Palestina, Nederländerna, Frankrike, Sydkorea, Egypten, Italien och USA. Om allt går som det ska hoppas jag kunna arrangera en eller flera utställningar med Bayan Abu Nahlas målningar.
